I love your products and website! My agency is interested in purchasing your BrainWorks program for our practitioners. We employ behavior consultants and recreation therapists, and we work through the Indiana Medicaid waiver. I’ve noticed that many other websites consider OTs as responsible for developing a sensory diet. We have a significant need for a program like this and we have a shortage of OTs that understand sensory processing. I’ve taken several training courses on sensory diets and understand the process very well. In addition, I have 9 years experience with individuals that have intellectual disabilities. So, long story short: Do you have to be an OT to use your program?
The answer is no, you do not have to be an OT to use BrainWorks. In fact, our goal is to make it easy to use by non-OTs. I do highly recommend using our Sensory Symptoms Checklist (printable under the FORMS tab on our website) to help you discover a child’s sensory needs and basic training in the use of our system, such as our webinar titled “Sensory Diets 101.” It’s always ideal if you have an OT consultant who is highly trained in sensory processing, but I know that isn’t always an option! I hope you will continue to find our program helpful. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance!
