Facilitating Self-Regulation in Children and Teens
Research shows that self-regulation is one of the most important predictors of academic success. In a nutshell, self-regulation is the ability to respond appropriately to a situation and involves sensory processing, emotions, and executive functioning skills. This 2-hour webinar provides an overview of self-regulation as well as a framework for facilitating the development of this vital skill set in kids who are struggling with attention, outbursts, social interactions, self-calming, and more.
Learning Outcomes
- Define self-regulation.
- Assess self-regulation skills.
- Identify areas of development hindering self-regulation based on a child’s assessment.
- List resources to assist in the development of self-regulation.
- Integrate a teaching model of “Before-During-Reflection” into intervention with students.
