BrainWorks-Your-Way!

BrainWorks-Your-Way (BYW) is a fully customizable version of our sensory activity cards. BYW cards have a simple black border with no colored arrows in the corners. These are available for members in the Select-and-Print area at the bottom of the drop-down menu under “Select Activity Type.”

Please browse the examples below for ideas and inspiration on how to use BrainWorks-Your-Way activity cards to meet the needs of the sensational children you serve.

Integrating BrainWorks-Your-Way with The Zones of Regulation®

Laura Moehrlin, MOT OTR/L, created the above folder to integrate BrainWorks activity cards into her school’s current Zones of Regulation program.

Laura expanded on this system in her school’s motor room by creating separate folders for each Zone.

Candace Shetzler, MS, OTR/L , owner of A Child’s Potential (www.achildspotential.com), used the BrainWorks-Your-Way activity cards to to create this file folder to support the Zones of Regulation program being used in her school.

Integrating BrainWorks-Your-Way with The Alert Program®

Candace Shetzler, MS, OTR/L , owner of A Child’s Potential (www.achildspotential.com), used the BrainWorks-Your-Way activity cards to supplement the Alert Program the student was already using. Candace added the arrows to match the colors used in this system.

Other Possibilities for BrainWorks-Your-Way

I used the BrainWorks-Your-Way cards to create this tool for a little boy who did better with pictures to identify his sensory state rather than the original BrainWorks arrow system. To create this tri-fold choice board, I simply taped together two file folders. I allowed the child to pick the colors that represented each sensory speed. I then used a marker to outline the border of each card so he could see where to return the cards when done with his sensory activities. The “Blue Guy Emotion Pictures” are available to print and can be found in the BrainWorks Members Select-and-Print area.  —Gwen Wild, Owner of Sensational Brain LLC
