Pediatric Yoga and Mindfulness: Tools for Developing Motor Skills, Self-Regulation, and Sensory Awareness
Research clearly indicates that the learning brain is unavailable unless the emotional brain is calm and focused. Yet current educational conditions inhibit proper environments for the learning brain to develop successfully. Additionally, sensory and emotional regulation are foundational building blocks for academic and social-emotional development. This 6-hour certification program uses current brain research on mindfulness, mindful movement, simple yoga postures and the learning brain that educational and pediatric professionals can use to coach other professionals, parents, and children simply, intuitively, and effectively.
The unique blend of research and practical application has been taught to hundreds of educational professionals across the country. Participants learn a range of calming, focusing, and organizing activities while identifying optimal times and places to use them. Additionally, special attention is given to movement games and activities that can build balance, vestibular processing, sensory regulation, and core strength. Appropriate for those with any level of yoga or mindfulness training, this comprehensive and easily replicable program brings mindfulness and simple movement practices to children to enhance and support social, emotional, and academic development. The presenter is an RTY-200 (registered yoga teacher) with experience in children’s yoga and training through Mindful Schools.
