Burnout is defined as a psychological syndrome that involves a prolonged response to chronic stressors on the job and is comprised of three main components: emotional exhaustion, cynicism, and decreased sense of accomplishment. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Dance and a Master’s in Occupational Therapy from Nova Southeastern University. Erika’s special interests include promoting work well-being and burnout prevention in healthcare. She is the founder of Joy Energy Time, a community dedicated to brightening healthcare with strategies and resources to navigate burnout and squeeze the most out of life. Erika has presented courses and lectures at regional and national conferences, continuing education platforms, universities, and various industries, including the healthcare and tech industries.
Erika is also the creator and co-host of the Burnt Out to Lit Up Podcast, holistic wellness and lifestyle show. Through personal anecdotes and guest interviews, Erika aims to empower listeners with tools to be their #MostLitUpSelf in and out of work and discusses current high-level challenges in healthcare. She is currently committed to conducting research with an Industrial and Organizational Psychology team at Colorado State University.
