Establishing Realistic Food Progressions for the Most Challenging Eaters

Learning Outcomes
- Recognize when a baby is ready to start eating purees as well as progress to slightly textured foods, dissolving hard solids, single texture soft mashables, and mixed textured soft mashables/Stage 3 foods.
- Identify developmentally appropriate strategies to assist babies in transitioning to more textured foods.
- Ascertain why it is important to know a child’s approximate gross motor skill level and oral motor skill level before creating a food progression.
- Distinguish useful strategies to assist picky eaters in learning to eat spaghetti with marinara sauce.
- Identify appropriate strategies to help picky eaters progress to eating chicken breasts.
