SLEEP!

While sleep plays a major role in emotional regulation, behavior, and learning, many children and teens (and therefore parents as well) struggle to get the sleep they need. This 1-hour webinar briefly explores the causes of poor quality sleep, including the impact of autism; outlines multiple best-practice strategies for helping children put themselves to sleep and stay asleep; and discusses next-steps for identifying the necessity for medical intervention. The presenter includes a sleep-planning form to share with parents.

Learning Outcomes

  1. List physiological factors impacting sleep quality.
  2. Given a case study, apply strategies likely to improve sleep quality.
  3. Recall the outcomes of three research studies on strategies to impact sleep quality in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
